ActionFly LED Night Light Review | Smart Night Light With Sensor

My family does  a lot of camping in the desert with no hookups so that means at night when the generator is off, it’s pitch dark. One problem I’ve continually encountered on these trips is literally tripping over things in the middle of the night when I get up to use the bathroom or help one of my kids with something.

The light switches are tricky in the trailer and I hate fumbling around in the dark waking others up. A night light with sensor was exactly what I needed.

ActionFly-LED-Night-Light-Review-Smart-Night-Light-With-SensorThis night light can be switched off and on OR put on auto mode so that it turns on when it senses motion. It seems to have a good level of sensitivity and doesn’t just randomly go on by itself like some do. It’s only gone on when I’ve actually moved by it.

It comes with a little two sided mounting tape that is sufficient to stick it where ever you need it. I’m keeping mine in my trailer on the door outside of the bathroom so as soon as I get near it, the way will be lit for me! It can be placed anywhere you need it though and since it’s battery operated the options are endless as you aren’t limited to outlet location.

Since it only stays lit when you are in the range of ten feet of it, you don’t have to worry about the battery being wasted since it shuts itself off after fifteen seconds. This is especially helpful at night when I just need it for a minute and don’t want to have to fumble around to switch it off and on.

While I prefer a plug in night light for my house to save batteries, the ActionFly LED Night Light is ideal for our trailer!

The Precision RBS Proteus – Rubber Band Launcher

It’s been said that the family that plays together stays together. That being said I would have to say my family is stuck together for life! We have lots of “family battles” as my kids call them. There are light saber battles while wearing the masks of the good and the bad and superhero battles where everyone picks their favorite hero and their special weapon. Sometimes it’s just nerf guns that come in all different sizes for the littlest to the biggest. That’s why I knew my kids would love the rubber band launchers from Precision RBS!

These launchers are rated for 8+ so I knew they would be great for my 7 and 8 year olds. We let my almost three year old play with them as well, with adult supervision of course. He’s passed the point of putting things in his mouth and is able to operate the smaller launcher. The big obstacle with him is making sure he doesn’t shoot it AT people. That’s one of the benefits of the whole family playing together though. We all keep an eye on him and help teach him the right way!

My husband was not initially thrilled because he said the rubber bands would end up all over the house, and they did. However, he was the only one still playing long after the rest of us finished. He said they are the best rubber band launchers he’s ever seen. They are good quality and highly accurate. As a girl I don’t have as much experience as him in this department but I enjoyed playing with them as well!

We tried out three different launchers, all with interchangeable attachments. Since they generally could be categorized as small, medium and large I divided them up between my kids that way from youngest to oldest. Of course everyone wanted the big one so we took turns swapping out all the attachments.

Since the attachments are swappable, they actually all look the same with attachments removed!

The Precision RBS Proteus Rubber Band Launcher

The launchers are really well made and easy to use. I like that the distance is labeled on each so you know how far it will go.

The launchers all have fun life like accents like the little clear part you can pop up to line up your shot.

The rubber bands are color coded with each one able to go a different distance. I like the options! We were just playing inside I totally to test them out so didn’t need them launching the maximum distance.

The shortest launcher with no attachments is called the Talos. It is a simple basic launcher that still comes with two different kinds of bands, 100 each. I like how basic and easy it is to use. That’s my personal preference. I don’t need all the fancy attachments and ability to do different things. I think this is more of a guy thing!

There’s a hook on the bottom where you can store the extra bands for a quick reload.

The medium size is called the Chiron and has an attachment that is interchangeable with the others. it has the same storage capability for extra bands as the Talos but with the attachment you can store even more on the bottom.

The attachment also can be a stand alone hand shooter which I kind of like. It also comes with 200 bands.

The largest Hyperion I don’t think we have even begun to touch what it can do. This one I actually needed to read the directions for to figure out all the different components. This one comes with 250 because it has even further distance capabilities so another band is needed which is color coded purple for distinction.

This one has all the capabilities of the others with it’s own additional features. The coolest feature of this one is it’s burst feature which can shoot up to 14 bands at once. Plus, it’s just the coolest looking one! This was my daughter’s favorite!

They can of course dangerous and safety precautions should be taken. My kids are used to shooting at each other with Nerf guns so of course they wanted to do that with these. We had to explain their dangers and that we could only use them for target practice unless everyone was wearing full protection including face and head coverage.

We don’t have this laying around so we decided these would be perfect to take with us camping. We can do target practice without worrying about hitting anyone. They even come with targets and since they aren’t destroyed like with real guns they can be used over and over again. Then we also have the option of shooting at each other with our full dirt bike gear protection on if the kids really want to shoot at each other – which they do!

For the house though they are only allowed to use the targets. They like practicing with the different bands and launchers and exploring all the things they are capable of. It’s a fun activity for the whole family!

These rubber band launchers are great quality and can be a lot of safe fun when used correctly. We can’t wait to really put the distance to the test next time we are camping in the great wide open!

The Grass Isn’t Greener On The Other Side! Eco- Friendly Improvements For Your Home

Something that buyers are looking for more and more are properties that are eco-friendly. This is a trend that’s set to continue and become an increasingly important feature. Making your home greener means it’s kinder to the environment which is great, and on the plus side it makes your property more desirable and valuable. This is always useful, whether you pla

n on selling it or not. Here are some of the ways you can

Good Quality Windows

Double or even triple glazed windows will make your home much more energy efficient. Every time you put the heating on, it’s not simply escaping. Since power companies burn fossil fuels, every time you waste heat it means these fossil fuels are damaging the environment for no good reason.

It also means that you’re paying over the odds on your fuel bills too. If your windows are due for an upgrade, go with the most energy efficient versions you can find. Triple glazing is something to consider, although it’s costly to fit it will save money on energy in the long run.

If you don’t have the funds available to make such a large purchase, a home equity loan could be an option. This allows you to use some of the value in your home to borrow money- and can be worth it since this is then being invested back into the property.

Loft and Wall Insulation

As with the windows, if every time you heat your home, it’s escaping through the walls and loft it’s bad for both your wallet and the environment. There are many government schemes offering free loft insulation, do some research and see if you qualify. If not, paying a company to come out and do it is your best bet.

Insulation will be added to your loft to prevent heat escaping through the roof. Cavity wall insulation involves filling the gap between the internal and external walls with an insulating material.

Solar Panels

Another way to make your home kinder to the environment, reduce your bills and use less power generated by fossil fuels is to have solar panels installed. Solar power is completely renewable meaning they’re a green option. In the last couple of years, a record-breaking number solar panels were installed each day around the world making the fastest growing electricity source.

You can get on board and do your bit simply by having some panels installed on your roof, and it’s something that all homeowners can do. Again in some areas you might be entitled to free or reduced solar panels due to government incentives so find out what’s available to you. Solar panels are

Water Well

Just like gas and electricity companies, water companies burn fossil fuels which are bad for the environment. Sanitising water and making it safe to drink requires using a lot of power. You can avoid this and do your bit for the environment, as well as make you home more eco-friendly by having your own water well installed in your garden. Water from a private well is safe to drink, as it will not have been contaminated with any surface water.

On the plus side, it also doesn’t contain fluoride and other chemicals that are added to mains water meaning it’s a healthier option. You’ll need to have the water quality assessed every year to check that everything is ok but aside from that it’s completely hassle free. It means you don’t have to worry about things like hosepipe bans since your water isn’t coming from the mains supply.

Eco-Friendly Renovations

If you’re thinking of renovating your home, there are a number of ways you can be kinder to the environment. First is to use recycled materials. Look online to see if anyone is getting rid of anything in your local area, not only is this more eco-friendly than buying new but it will also save you some money as well.

Secondly, recycle any materials you no longer need. If you’re knocking down walls, for example, someone else might be able to make use of the bricks for hardcore or filling in a hole in their garden. Using environmentally friendly paints, those with low VOC levels is another thing you could consider.

These don’t release volatile chemicals that damage the environment and ozone layer, so is another small way to do your bit. The more people choose these kinds of products; the more demand is created for them. So opting for the environmentally friendly versions of things is better long term too.

How To Shape Up Without Overstretching Your Finances

A cupboard full of exotic ingredients. Some newfangled fitness devices. A fashion-forward leisurewear collection. Healthy living can come at a cost. However, it doesn’t always have to be this way. Getting fit doesn’t always have to overstretch your finances. There are loads of ways you can adopt a healthier lifestyle without paying the price. Here are some handy hints to help you get healthy without breaking the bank.

Working out for less

Inexpensive activities

These days, you can’t go anywhere without reading articles about fitness or seeing giant images of gym-honed models. Exercise is so unbelievably good for you, but it

doesn’t have to be expensive. It’s often assumed that you need to fork out a lot of money to get in shape, but that’s simply not the case. For starters, the gym is not the only place to get fit. A gym membership can set you back a considerable amount of money per year, but there are alternatives to taking out membership.

You could pay as you go or you could try other activities. Jogging, for example, won’t cost you a penny. You could also try swimming at a local pool, which is likely to carry a small charge, or cycling. If you don’t have a bike, you could search for a second hand one online, and you may be able to pick up a bargain. Team sports are also an inexpensive way of exercising.

If you’re keen to exercise alone, fitness DVDs are a great, cheap option. All you need is a mat and some light weights.

Setting up a home gym

One way of working out for less is to invest in some home gym equipment. Once you’ve made the initial payment, you won’t have to worry about paying a monthly membership fee or a renewal fee if you want to prolong your membership. You can exercise whenever you want, and you’ll save time on getting to and from the gym. You don’t need to kit out your garage with the latest mod cons and a suite suitable for an NFL pro.

Think about which machines you like to use at the gym, and whether you actually need expensive equipment. Some people like to base their workouts on stretching, aerobic activities, and lifting weights. If this is more your cup of tea than pounding the treadmill for hours, you could save yourself even more.

If you are looking for some home gym equipment, the Internet is a really useful resource. If you have a make and model of exercise bike or elliptical trainer in mind, for example, type it into the search box, and see how much you could save.

It’s also worth looking in discount stores and holding out for promotions. If you’re not fussed about having a brand new bike, pay some garage sales a visit or search online for new and used auctions.

Basic lifestyle changes

Today, we tend to rely on our cars to get around. Switching to walking is a lifestyle change that will not only help you shape up. It will also help you to trim your expenditure on gas. Start walking or taking your bike to work or leave the car at home if you fancy popping to visit a friend or grabbing a coffee.

Healthy eating made more affordable

When you’re putting the effort into your workouts, you don’t want your diet to let you down. There’s a belief that healthy eating is expensive, and in some cases, this can be true. You see a lot of superfoods and fad diets hitting the headlines these days, and foods that are hard to source often carry a hefty price tag.

The reality is that you don’t need to make drastic changes to your diet to make it healthier and more nutritionally valuable. If you don’t have the budget to survive on avocados and chia seeds, don’t worry.

Saving money on fruit and vegetables

Fruit and vegetables form the basis of a healthy diet, and health experts recommend a minimum of 5 portions per day. If you’re feeding a family, the cost can soon add up. If you’re keen to get your 5-a-day without spending a fortune at the store, there are ways of saving money. Buying frozen produce is a really good idea.

You can also take advantage of multi-buy offers, but take care not to buy things you don’t need. If you never eat apples, don’t buy them just because they’re on offer. Look out for fruits and vegetables that you do normally eat, and see if you can find deals that will actually save you money. Making smoothies is a great way to boost your vitamin intake on the cheap.

Once you’ve got a blender, all you need is the ingredients, and you’re good to go. You only need small quantities, so a little will go a long way. If you’re looking for simple, tasty smoothie recipes, have a look at Good House Keeping’s recipes. If you’re used to buying smoothies from cafes, you’ll save a huge amount by making your own at home

The cost of fresh produce varies significantly depending on which store you choose. If you prefer to shop at a store where prices are higher, do your basic shop and then go elsewhere for your fruit and vegetables. It’s also worth checking out local markets and independent stores, as they may charge less.

Lowering the cost of a weekly shop

If you’re on a health drive, your weekly shop is probably the first thing you alter. When you’re planning a trip to the store, write a list. Work out what you’re going to have for your lunch and dinner every day, and write down the ingredients you need. Stick to the list, and try not to be swayed by other items or flash sales on products you’d never normally use.

If you’re not very good at keeping track of what you’ve spent or you tend to fill your cart with items you don’t need, try online shopping. This is a quick and convenient way of getting what you need, and you’ll have a running total on the screen.

If you want to buy meat, poultry or fish, it’s worth visiting the store close to closing. This way, you can get discounted items, which are going out of date. If you freeze them, you can eat healthily on a much tighter budget.

Healthy eating at work

When you’re at work, it can be really easy to rely on the easy options, which are sometimes a lot less healthy than meals you could rustle up at home. Even foods like sandwiches are wraps can contain hundreds of calories when you buy them from a shop. It can also be tempting to cave in and add some chips or a chocolate bar when they’re lying there on a display looking alluring.

If you prepare lunch at home, you’ll save money, and ensure that you’ve got a nutritious meal to enjoy. You’ll save yourself precious minutes in the day, and you won’t have to test your willpower at the checkout.

Many of us want to be healthier, but sometimes, there’s a worry that health living is costly. It’s true that you can spend a lot of money on gym gear, membership, and cooking up exotic feasts. However, there are also lots of ways you get in shape and improve your health on a budget. Don’t let money hold you back when you’re putting your health first.

Ozeri Brezza Desktop Fan Review | Keeping Cool in the Summer Heat !

Ozeri-Brezza-Oscillating-High-Velocity-Desk-Fan-reviewSummer is almost upon us and in Southern California we’ve already had many spring days that felt more like summer with temperatures reaching the upper eighties.

Our house is energy efficient with dual paned windows and a house fan to keep air circulating. We also have shutters that really help with temperature control. It usually has to be in the upper 90’s, low 100’s before we have to use our air conditioning. It can get a little uncomfortable though so we like to use portable fans in each room to stay cool, especially at night.

Ozeri-Brezza-Oscillating-High-Velocity-Desk-Fan-review-1

My daughter didn’t have much space in her room for a full sized floor fan so I went with this Ozeri Brezza for her because I could set it on her dresser without taking up much space. It’s all ready to go and set up with no assembly required. Just plug it in.

We like to have “white noise” in all our rooms at night to drown out the sound of barking dogs, house noises and kids waking up at all hours. This fan is definitely the loudest in the house. It’s not quiet at all, even on the lowest setting. I have to keep it there for my daughter so it doesn’t make TOO much noise.

Ozeri-Brezza-Oscillating-High-Velocity-Desk-Fan-review-3It’s a very simple basic fan with one knob to turn to the different settings and push for oscillation. My daughter prefers not to have it moving so we just keep it on number one without oscillation but it’s nice to have the option. When we had our carpet cleaned I had it on the highest speed and oscillating to speed up drying. This setting is extremely loud.

The Ozeri Brezza is great for what we need and a nice basic fan. It’s a bit loud if you care about that but otherwise a solid little fan.

For other amazing fans, check TheTechyHome. You’ll find reviews on different types of fans.

Humidity Issues And Solution

Since many homes suffer from humidity, I decided to tackle this issue and share some info on it. it’s true that not all people are sensitive to moisture and molds, but in the positive case, it could lead to serious health issues. Throat irritation, nasal stuffiness, eye irritation are some of these problems. In case the person has mold allergy the reaction could be even worse. This is why this issue should be taken seriously.

WHERE DOES THE HUMIDITY COME FROM IN A HOUSE ?

Air indoors become highly humid as a result of many factors.
I Western ares, moisture is most felt in winter days when weather is cold and damp. This happens because humidity indoor comes from the confrontation of water vapor coming from the house and cold coming from outside that infiltrates a poorly insulated interior.
Indeed, our daily activities generate moisture: dishes, showers, baths, drying clothes, cooking, the simple fact of breathing also generates moisture.

These everyday activities and the moisture they generate will not be a problem if the site is properly heated and insulated, however, if not, moisture will concentrate and condense in the coldest parts of the house. Consequently, moisture is often found on thin walls exposed to outside air, near windows or in an unheated room. Moisture can also be felt and noticed in a non-homogeneously heated room where the air can not circulate. Similarly, a closet that is stuck to a cold wall will very likerly cause your clothes to suffer.

HOW IS MOISTURE MANIFESTED AND HOW BAD IS IT?

The humidity in the air is not a totally bad things as it’s part of nature that has a role, it is even desirable because otherwise the air would be too dry. However it is important that it does not exceed a certain level. For us as humans, the most comfortable relative humidity is between 45% and 65% of water vapor in the air.moisture-on-wood

Generally, we known that an interior is too wet when notice that small droplets of water have appeared on the glass of a our windows. These droplets of water are the result of condensation. This doesn’t become a problem until this phenomenon of condensation begin to give rise to mold. The effects of mold are particularly unpleasant in an interior

– Damaged parquet flooring
– Damaged paint
– Peeling wallpaper
– Dark grayish spots on the walls
– Bad odors
– white powdery mold on clothes

A Popular Solution

As you’ve seen, having humidity problems home could be very annoying and most importantly can result in serious health issues. Aquring a dehumidifier is one of the great solutions to cope with this whether it’s for your kitchen, basement or any area of your home where humidity levels are high. It’s especially important to get a dehumidifier in case your furniture and other items are getting damaged.

One of the best units out there and which has received many positive reviews is Frigidaire Dehumidifer. There are three sizes from which you can choose depending on the size of the room you will put it in.
